İlhan Akdağ was born in Tokat in 1946. He graduated from the Faculty of Mines in Istanbul Technical University. Later, he worked on gemstones and applied them to accessories and jewelry. His jewelry, made of stones and silver, are evaluated by Turkish Ministry of Culture and Tourism. In 1980, he founded AGAT Mining Company and has been training young craftsmen. He also served as a tutor at the education activities which were held by a non-governmental organization.
